This week saw our teams venture all over the Northern Rivers region, with games at Fripp Oval Ballina, Stan Thompson Oval Brunswick Heads, and Barry Sheppard Oval Cabarita Round Mountain.
Our intrepid travellers represented our club wonderfully well once again, as we now take a look at each game from the coaches and managers point of view.
If you have pics of the games and you would like to share them so we can post them here, please email media.lsjafc@gmail.com

Under U8s - Swans vs Tweed Coast Tigers
By Coach Peter
The U8's travelled up to visit the Tweed Coast Tigers. Coming off a great result last weekend against Byron the kids were hoping to continue their good form against another very strong side.
Our mighty Swans jumped out in the first quarter again and continued to play a fast direct game of footy.
The willingness of the kids to scrap for the ball on the ground was another feature of the Swans and it resulted in plenty of ball going forward for our sharp shooters to finish off. A great result again for the mighty U8's.
The improvement from all the kids throughout the season thus far is really starting to shine through with some really great passages of team play.
Well done kids !

Under U10 Girls - Swans vs Byron Bay

The U10 girls travelled down to Ballina on a beautiful clear Sunday morning.
As has been the pattern against the Ballina girls the game was a very close one with both sides trading goal for goal throughout the entire game and if the score was recorded the Lismore girls would have probably slotted the most.
Charlee had her best game for the season and Michaela had a cracker as well. Didji and Lilah teamed up in the forward line ,Didji kicking a bag full and Lilah battled on with an arm injury even winning a ball tussle one handed.
Katrina was solid in the centre her well placed kicks giving us drive out of the centre.
Over all it was their best game of the season so far and they just keep getting better each week.
Bye for now Corey

Under U10s White - Swans vs Tweed Coast
By Coach Robbie and Richard
This week’s game against Tweed Coast was an absolute cracker! I’m not sure who enjoyed it more – the kids or the parents. The footy itself was as outstanding as the weather. When the first quarter kicked off and Tweed Heads posted two goals in as many minutes, one may have thought the boys were in for a tough day. I actually turned to Coach Rich and said, “I think the kids will be happy enough if they can score at least one goal.” How wrong was I – from that point on they really took it up to the Tweed boys. There were too many highlights to mention. Jonah’s dashing runs and right foot snaps (straight through the big sticks!). Keegan and Lachlan taking up ruck duties and continually bringing the ball to ground and contesting everything. Archer’s rugby-style storm up the wing, busting through four tacklers before he was brought down by the fifth. Xavier’s desperate lunges to touch the ball on the last line of defence were worth two goals. Kypher and Harvey showed their usual tenacity and electric speed, they never stopped running. Harvey was rewarded with a great goal; Kypher with a well-deserved encouragement award. Fynn’s trademark side-step and left foot was on display, along with beautiful clearing handballs. Our 8’s stepped up again with Callum and Hugh taking on every contest, tackling hard and stifling Tweed’s every move. In only his second game Josh looked like he’s been playing for years, getting right in the contest and contesting for marks. Last but not least, after looking a little quiet earlier in the game young Max came out like a ‘Tiger’ in the last quarter (not a Tweed Tiger – perhaps more like an angry swan) and threw himself at everything. Overall it was a great game to watch and the boys showed amazing character and commitment, and it was great to see the kids from both sides enjoying themselves. Parents of both teams commented on how much all the boy’s skills have improved since the start of the year.

Under U14s - Swans vs Tweed Tigers
By Coach Tim
The swans started slowly in the first quarter, allowing the opposition to play free which resulted in consistent tweed scores. After that the swans improved on every quarter, making sure they were picking up free opposition players and when we had the ball looking for switches, not just kicks up the ground.
Blaze dominated the clearances and the hard ball while pushing forward and kicking 4 goals.
Tom B was always creating options out of defense in one of his best games and Tinalia took some really good marks in a standout game.

Well that’s a wrap as they say, and with team photos happening this week and next, and the last few rounds on our doorstep, our season is almost over.
However we have been chosen to host the Under 12 Semifinals at Mortimer Oval on Sunday September 1 featuring our very own 12’s, so make sure to come down and cheer on our team!
