A week after nailing a premiership with the U16 girls, September began with the Under 12 Semifinals being hosted at our home ground Mortimer Oval on a beautiful sunny day!
The first game was between the Ballina Bombers and the Tweed Tigers, playing for that first coveted spot in this years Grand Final.
In a fast moving and hard fought contest, it was the Ballina Bombers who established an early dominance on the game, holding off a determined Tigers outfit for the duration of the match, booking a seat into the last game of the season.
No sooner had the field cleared, when the combatants of the next game, our own Lismore Swans 12’s, and the very strong Magpies of Byron Bay took their positions awaiting the umpires whistle.

Under 12’s played top of ladder Byron Bay in the semi finals at Mortimer Oval.Â
We started strong holding Byron Bay.
Unfortunately Byron Bay kicked away from us but we were constantly putting pressure on them.Â
Great season everyoneÂ

It was a brilliant effort from this wonderful group of players, many of whom are playing up from the Under 10’s!Â
After winning only 1 game last year, this team is the first Under 12’s team from Lismore to make the finals in over 7 years. A great achievement!
Well done to coach Shane, team manager Linda, and all the parents and carers who gave their time and allowed the kids to enjoy themselves, form strong lasting bonds and friendships, and play some amazing footy along the way.
This collection of players, along with the many rising stars from the junior ranks, shows how healthy and exciting our club looks in the immediate future.
We now have the Presentations coming up, the week after the Grand Finals which are being held at Brunswick Heads.Â
Please RSVP to which one you will be attending, and to also make sure you have booked and paid for the Saturday dinner!
See you there!
